Art Journal - Fairy Garden

Posted by Susan on Saturday, July 06, 2013 in
My husband had noted that a lot of my art journal pages and work of late was a little dark, so I challenged myself to lighten things up a bit with this 2-page spread. Click on the image below for a larger picture:

This page uses a beautiful mix of lavender/lilac and silver to create a fairytale garden. For the trees, I used a technique I learned from Vivian (contadinak on youtube). You take a glue gun and just sketch out lines and/or shapes on your page as you want them to appear. In this case I wanted to make something that looked like trees. Once I had the hot glue shapes laid out I then took silver rub and buff and with my finger just brushed it over the hardened hot glue to make silver trees. I LOVE the way it turned out.

I also got to use my Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap for the first time in the background. It's absolutely gorgeous to work with and will definitely be using it more in the future!

Hope you like the page, and please check out my youtube channel for a close up walk through of this layout »
