Inspiration Wednesday - Triple Crescent Moon

Posted by Susan on Sunday, March 08, 2015 in ,
So this page started out as my Inspiration Wednesday Week 5 project. Now if you look at the project Donna Downey created for IW5 you're probably wondering how on earth I got from there to here. Well....it's a bit of a journey, so let me tell you.

I made my molding paste skins (the moons), but then they were just too small, and I didn't really have another stencil large enough that I could use for this technique. So I kept them. Now I could have added an inclusion to my page, but without skins large enough, the effect wouldn't work anyway, so I kept my page as is. I wanted to add a textured bottom, like Donna's, but I didn't want to re-create the "nest" idea, so.....I tried beads. Well, they sort of worked. They were larger than they should have been for what I was trying to achieve, but I rolled with it anyway.

From there however, I think the page began to take on a life of it's own and well, a bunch of ink spray, molding paste through a stencil, more seed beads, some stitching stamps and a tag later and voila!

It's really interesting how this worked out though. I chose to use my three moon skins in the shape of the Triple Crescent Moon, which symbolizes the maiden, the mother and the crone. But what I didn't realize until I was almost finished the page was that today is International Women's Day. So all in all, I think it's a rather fitting layout for the day.

Thanks for reading!

Another fun week at Inspiration Wednesday with Donna Downey. It's never too late to join and I admit I'm learning a lot of unique techniques.
